Meet Onigiri_nichijo: My New Rice Ball Muse
Hello everyone, and welcome to a very special milestone in my creative journey! Finally, I took the chance to officially introduce the seed of an idea that has been brewing in my heart for a long time: sketching onigiri as my main character, Onigiri_nichijo.
Why Onigiri?
If you know me well, you probably know that onigiri is one of my absolute favourite foods in the entire world. There is something deeply comforting, iconic, and universally charming about a simple triangle of rice wrapped in crisp nori. Beyond just being a delicious snack, I’ve always seen endless potential in turning an onigiri into a dynamic character. From its distinct shape to the countless fillings and facial expressions you can imagine, an onigiri can express a whole spectrum of relatable moods and daily adventures.

Navigating the New Artist Learning Curve
As a relatively new digital artist, bringing this concept to life hasn't always been a straight line. I am deeply thankful for the arrival of modern AI tools, which have been a fascinating companion in helping me brainstorm concepts and polish my rough sketches toward a more ideal vision.
Of course, I quickly learned that AI isn't a magic wand—most of my initial AI generation attempts were messy, distorted, or simply not what I had in mind! But those experiments taught me so much about composition and form. Whenever the AI-assisted attempts went off track, I could always rely on Procreate to step in, take the wheel, and manually make things right with my own brushstrokes.
What's Next?
This is truly just the beginning. I am pouring my heart into building the world and personality of Onigiri_nichijo, exploring everything from quiet everyday moments to whimsical adventures.
